Das Muster aus Sutton Hoo hat mich nicht losgelassen, zumal ein ziemlich ähnliches Muster in den Weiten des www mit der Bezeichnung "Oseberg" herumgeistert. Was tut man also, wenn man ziemlich genaue Literaturangaben hat? Nachchecken! Und dabei kam Interessantes heraus:

Le motif de Sutton Hoo ne m'a pas lâchée, en particulier parce qu'un modèle assez similaire flotte sur le www avec la denomination "Oseberg". Alors, que peut-on faire quand on a des références assez précises? Verifier! Et intéressant est sorti:

Die Ärmelborte des äusseren Ärmel ist wohl DOCH brettchengewebt. Offensichtlich wurde das Muster in Soumak-Technik eingebracht, das Grundgewebe ist laut Literatur brettchengewebt. Wie das mit der Schemazeichnung zu vereinbaren ist, bleibt der Fantasie überlassen, der Text dazu ist aber eindeutig.



Apparement le galon de la manche extérieure EST tissé aux planchettes. De toute évidence, le motif a été introduit en utilisant la technique de Soumak, mais le tissu de base est tissé aux planchettes selon la littérature. Comment c'est compatible avec le schéma est laissé à l'imagination, mais le texte est très claire.

Allerdings scheint es, dass die Ärmelborte des innere Ärmels, die normalerweise bei den Angel-Sachsen aus Brettchenborte gefertigt wurde, hier gestickt ist, und zwar so, dass es wie Brettchenborte aussieht. 

Cependant, la galon de la manche intérieure, qui était généralement tissé aux planchettes chez les Anglo-Saxons, semble être brodé ici de manière qu'il ressemble à être tissé aux planchettes.
